Using the 'Triangle Numbers' worksheet look at the triangle provided together. Explain that the numbers on each side have to total 6.
Give your child two sets of number cards 1–3 (- you can cut out the ones on the right hand side of the worksheet).
Can you arrange the numbers in a triangle so that each side has a total of 6. Can you find a different way of arranging the numbers?
When you have completed the task, use the 'Numbers in a Triangle Investigation' to extend your child's understanding. This maths investigation sheet aims to encourage problem-solving and reasoning skills. Your child must place numbers in six places around a triangle to make each side of the triangle add up to the same answer! There is also an extra challenge question that challenges them to identify a pattern in the numbers.
