Rhiwbina Advent Stars 2020

This year has been a very difficult time for many of us. It has been a difficult time for charities too. We wondered what we could do to create some community involvement in a fun and festive activity whilst trying to support the great work of some of our local Welsh charities. And thus ‘Rhiwbina Advent Stars 2020’ was born!

Everyone can get involved – just download one of our three amazing star templates, kindly created by Imogen Lee from our very own The Art Workshop, colour it in, take a picture of it and email it in to us at Please include your name, or the name of a loved one, in your email if you would like this included in the event on the 24th (read on for details).

You may also like to cut out your star and put it up in your window – it would be wonderful to see lots of colourful stars twinkling at us as we are out and about on these cold Winter days. Look out for the stars appearing around the crossroads in Rhiwbina too!

Please don’t forget to consider giving a donation to our charities, Ty Hafan and Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital:

2020 has been tough for charities and they will be very grateful for any donation you may be able to make, big or small. 100% of all the money you donate will go these two worthwhile causes.

At 7pm on Christmas Eve (24th December), there will be a special ‘Rhiwbina Advent Stars 2020’ event for us all to watch on FaceBook Live ( Settle in with a mince pie and a glass of mulled wine or fruit punch and you will see your very own colourful star on the screen! We will also be treated to readings and music as well as a retelling of the nativity story.

As this is a community event, we are looking for local groups, organisations and individuals to be involved in recording content for the 24th. If you or your group might be interested in recording a carol, a poem or a part of the nativity service, or recording some music for us, please do get in touch (by email to We’d love to have lots of people from our wonderful community involved to celebrate our diverse and amazing community.
