Easter Activities

Hello Year 1

We have been really impressed by the 2Dos you have completed on Purple Mash and we can see that lots of you have been playing the maths games on Abacus Pupil World. We are also sure you have been just as busy working on activities from your school folder. Well done for being so busy! You are all superstars!

We know lots of you enjoy completing Pupil Voice ideas so we have put together some suggestions that may interest you. If you are looking for things to do over the two week Easter break you might like to …

  • Build a 3D Easter egg using Lego bricks
  • Set up your own Easter themed shop
  • Use ‘junk modelling’ materials to design and build a raft that can hold an egg without sinking
  • Design and make some Easter bunny ears
  • Write and perform your own Easter song using a familiar tune
  • Have a family egg and spoon race in your back garden or living room
  • How many bunny hops can you do in a minute? Challenge the whole family
  • Write an adventure story about an Easter egg that escapes from the Easter Bunny’s basket
  • Make an Easter bonnet or Easter cap and hold your own Easter parade
  • Decorate eggs for Easter, hard boil some eggs or have fun blowing out the contents of the egg from the shell first
  • Design your own Easter egg hunt to do in your back garden or around the house. You could draw a map or write clues to lead the 'hunters' of the eggs to the chocolate treasure!

We appreciate that mummy and daddy might be finding it hard to buy eggs in the shops at the moment so if you don’t have many eggs at home you could use chocolate eggs (if you haven’t eaten them all) or improvise by using a tennis ball or apple for some of these challenges.

Have fun and remember these are only suggestions if you would like to keep busy over the holiday. If you want to take a photo of any completed Pupil Voice tasks and share them on the school’s Twitter feed (@RhiwbeinaPrm) we would love to see how creative you have been.

We really hope you and your families are all keeping well. It’s a strange time for us all as we adjust to a different rhythm of the day. We will be back in touch after the Easter holiday with news about our next Year 1 topic ‘Commotion in the Ocean’ … we will also be allocating more Purple Mash 2Dos and Abacus Maths Pupil World games after the holiday … until then have a great Easter!

Happy egg hunting, hot cross bun eating and chocolate egg munching!

We miss you all very much. Stay safe.

Happy Easter from the Year 1 Team
