Arty Ants and Creative Caterpillars
Look at these interesting minibeasts.
Can you see what they have been made from?
Which is your favourite? Why?
In this activity, you are going to have a go at making minibeasts out of natural materials.
To do this, you will need to collect some natural materials (twigs, stones, leaves, petals etc). When you are in your garden or on a walk, take a bag with you and see what you can collect.
The grown up in this video will talk you through how you could make them and what to think about after you’ve made your minibeast.
Parents ...The activity starts at 3 minutes into the video, feel free to move it to this point. (The content before is interesting for the children to see art that has been done with natural materials in other sessions should they wish to.)
Now it’s your turn. Remember to think about all the different features of the minibeast and think carefully about which materials would be best to use for each different part.
Here are some pictures to help you if you need some ideas.
Enjoy being creative!
Have a look at your finished piece of art work.
What are you proud of?
Is there anything that you found difficult?
What would you do differently next time?
We would love to see what you have created. If you want to share your art with us, you could upload it to the Rhiwbina Twitter feed. We love seeing what you've been up to.
