Phase 4 spends a lot of time looking at new blends that the children will now look at and become familiar with. Children will still need to recap what they have been learning from Phase 3. Please access the Phase 3 resources, especially the phoneme flashcards and high frequency words to ensure that these are secure in your child's recall and application. Thank you.
Please find below the High Frequency Word Set and Spelling Words for covered to date for phase 4. This week's focus is Set 20 and the last in Phase 4.
Please find below a blends word mat covering all the possible blends your child may experience in this phase.
Activities that you may like to do to help with practising phase 4 phonics. These activities are added to each academic week. This weeks activities here are 'Buried Treasure', 'Seaside Missing Sounds', 'Sound button cards' and 'Tricky word stepping stone colouring'.
There are a wide range of links to websites for phonics, as well as other activities, that you may like to use on the Reception Home Learning page on this school website. Some of these can also be found in the Letters and Sounds Guidance for Parents document (Year 1 Home Learning Page - Phonics). Many of the phonic pages meet the needs of Year 1 children, and indeed across the whole Foundation Phase age group. Take a look at these website links to provide additional interactive ways for your child to learn and practise their phonics.
