Summer Term Week 5 - w/c Monday 18th May

Hello Year 1,

Can you believe that we have nearly come to the end of our Commotion in the Ocean topic?

Well done for everything that you have done at home to help you keep learning.

Have a think about what you have learnt during this topic. What did you enjoy doing? What have you got better at? Is there anything you would like to develop further?

We hope you enjoy the final topic activities that we have set for you to try at home.

After half term, our new topic will be ‘Mad about Minibeasts’. Get ready to learn about all those tiny minibeasts that we share our planet with.

Hope you have a great week ... it's nearly half term!

Dear Parents,

We hope that this message finds you well and that you have had a positive week.

We have sorted a selection of different activities for the children. We continue to try to find a balance with screen based tasks and paper based activities in which children have the opportunity to practise and perfect their writing skills.

If you could find time, it is important for children to continue with their reading skills during this time, but we appreciate how difficult this is without the scheme books from school. There are lots of resources available online such as Oxford Owls and Teach your Monster to Read where you can match books to your child’s ability or simply read books for enjoyment.

As we have said previously, the activities are there to support you, but we are fully aware of the challenges that are still upon everyone at this time. Please do what you can, but feel no pressure from us. The children will benefit in many different ways from doing different activities with you, and their well-being is extremely important. You know your children better than anyone and should find the balance that is best for them.

Take care and have a good week,

The Year 1 Team
