Today's activity is 'Supertato – An Oracy Comprehension'
Today we would like your child to watch and listen to the story Supertato below...
After listening to the story we would like you to discuss with your child what happened by recounting the events that they have heard/ seen. Below we have provided some pictures for you to print and cut out, or use from the screen to help your child with this activity. Not all pictures need to be used, they can choose key ones to help focus their thoughts and discussion. It is a good idea to ask questions and give prompts if needed, i.e. Who is that? What happened to them? to extend your child’s explanations if needed.
Please keep the pictures that you have used for this activity as they will be required tomorrow.
Need a stepping stone?
If your child has a shorter attention span or finds it hard to retain this amount of information you could ask them to choose a single picture and tell you about it. This can be repeated for a few pictures one at a time as only having to think about one section will help them to focus their thoughts.
Need a further challenge?
If your child is able to recount the story of Supertato to you in detail, Remove the last pictures and ask them if they could think of a different ending to the story. They could draw these pictures if they wanted to complete the set!
