Meet the ALN Team

Meet the ALN Team:

Mrs Bradley (DHT/ALNCo):

Bio:
My name is Mrs Bradley and I have worked at Rhiwbeina Primary School since 2016. I support Mrs Harry to lead and manage the school in my role as Deputy Headteacher. I also lead and coordinate Additional Learning Needs (ALN) across the whole school in my role as Additional Learning Needs Coordinator (ALNCo). I enjoy supporting pupils, families and staff. It is incredibly rewarding to work with others towards shared goals and celebrate successes together.

Hobbies and Likes:
I have a passion for dance, particularly tap and modern, and enjoy sharing these skills with pupils in school. I love to travel and have visited many places, each of them interesting and unique. When I am at home, I like to spend time with my family and walking my dog, who loves exploring new places as much as I do.

Mrs Powling (ELSA and Well-being Interventions):
Bio:

I have worked at Rhiwbeina Primary School for 11 years and am responsible for delivering individual and group programmes of support for children to develop their emotional literacy, including awareness of their own and other people's emotions. Development of an increased range of emotional vocabulary to help the children better understand the management of stress, grief, anxiety, anger and conflict; and to ensure that I am available and approachable for the children to talk when they wish to discuss their difficulties or to share successes, to help them develop self-awareness.

Hobbies and Likes:
Playing Golf with my daughter. Following the local rugby - Cardiff. I'm interested in Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and farming in rural areas and communities.

Mr Marshall (Interventions):
Bio:
My name is Mr Marshall and I work mostly with children from Years 4, 5 and 6.  I run intervention sessions for maths and literacy in either small groups or 1:1.  I'm lucky enough to sometimes teach whole classes and feel very lucky to get to know so many of the children throughout the school.

Hobbies and Likes:
I love watching rugby, baking all sorts of yummy things but my main hobby outside of school is Martial Arts. I am a black belt in kickboxing and train with a very family friendly club. Doing this I spend many evenings teaching others quite different skills to those that I teach in school but they all require discipline, focus and lots of fun!

Mrs James (Interventions):
Bio:
I am Mrs James and have worked in Rhiwbeina Primary School for 15 years. I have the privilege of working with children from Years 2 to 6, running literacy and numeracy interventions. I love being able to see the children grow and develop in confidence, ready for their next adventure in High School.

Hobbies and Likes:
I love walking my 2 year old chocolate Labrador called Douglas, with my husband and daughter. I adore reading and spend my train journey home with my head buried in my Kindle. I enjoy going to the cinema and theatre. I’m currently trying to improve my French language skills which I’m really enjoying.
