WELCOME TO YEAR 1
Everything is red in Year One:- the carpet, the chairs, and the tables! We can play in a bigger playground. We use the field in the summer. We all have our own trays with our names on.
We enjoy reading stories and can choose our own reading books – every day if we want to! We make new friends and learn new things every day.
In Year One, we choose what we want for lunch from the dinner menu – just like a restaurant!
We enjoy going into the small hall for drama. We have games on a Friday morning. Everyone wears trainers, dark coloured joggers, a plain white t-shirt and a warm sweatshirt/hoodie. We bring it in a bag labelled with our name and class.
Inside P.E. is different for every class (Click on this link to do direct to our page to check the day for your class :- https://www.rhiwbeinaprm.co.uk/games-pe-days/
We try to remember to wear dark shorts and a plain white t-shirt.
Have fun exploring all about Wild Things. Can you guess what might be appearing next in the classroom? We will find out about famous Welsh people like Caradog & Llewelyn, the last Prince of Wales.
We visit a park to investigate pushing and pulling
Mad about Minibeasts
We search everywhere for bugs and minibeasts. We even use nets at Cosmeston to pond dip! We even watch caterpillars hatching.
We dress up as our favourite bug character for our Minibeast day!
Commotion in the Ocean
Prepare to find out about life under the sea and the creatures you might find there. We find out about how holidays have changed over time with Magic Grandad and go on a visit to a real pier.
We make a textile sea plant!
Have you ever wondered how your body works? You will find out some fascinating facts about the things your body can do. We have fun measuring parts of our bodies and what happens to our pulse when we exercise. We dance like skeletons in the Funnybones story to some great music. If you like food, we also get to design and make our own yogurts and fruit kebabs.
We visit Gwalia Stores at St Fagans and find out how different shopping was long time ago in the olden days!
Stomp Chomp Roar!
Dinosaurs lived millions of years ago. How much do you know? By the end of this topic you could be an expert. Can you guess what we might find in the caves? You get the chance to be an archaeologist. Who knows what you will uncover?
Visit : Dan-yr-Ogof Caves for a full day!
We all love our toys but how much do you know about how toys have changed. We play with toys at St Fagans that children played with years ago. We even have a go at making our own. Can you help the King and Queen of Sparkle solve their problems?
We enjoy bringing our Teddies into school on Teddy Day where they can meet all of our friends.
