R3 have been looking forward to this weeks book 'Emma Jane's Aeroplane' by Katie Haworth and Daniel Rieley. We hit the runway, working hard doing lots of exciting activities. Here is a snap shot of some of these!
Making our own air traffic control paddles to bring the planes in safely.
We used a template to cut out our own suitcases ready for our travels..
We then decided what items of clothing we would want to take.
We drew them, cut them out and packed them in our cases.
Making our own runways out of masking tape was tricky.
We made different size runways for the different planes.
We hope the aeroplanes can take off before they reach the end of our runway!
Using outdoor materials to construct the inside of our own plane.
We worked out how we could steer the plane.
We all sat inside and were ready to go!
Checklists! Do we have everything?
Observation nature drawings.
We had great fun!
Using the iPads to practise our number skills.
Making lollipop stick aeroplanes.
We measured the different size planes using blocks.
We measured from tip to tail. Some were very long!
Aa for aeroplane.
We gave the letters wings and decorated them to make them look special.
We made our own class runway!
We used the block play to make bunkers for the aeroplanes to be stored in.
Letter matching.
What did they see through the aeroplane window?
We looked at pictures in the book for inspiration.
We worked hard cutting, stick and drawing.
What a view!!
working together to fill the lines of the aeroplane.
Practising formation patterns.
Letter formation.
We jumped on each letter to help us blend our sounds.
s-a-t spells sat!
We used sponges to create a background effect for our plane collage pictures.
We drew around and cut out our planes.
We are very proud of the results!
What an exciting week in R1! We have opened our new role play...R1's very own airport! We have flown all over the world learning so many new skills as we go! Here is just a snapshot!
We are busy making air traffic control paddles to guide the aeroplanes in!
Our funky fingers table is a class favourite!
We have been learning to measure with cubes objects from our classroom.
We even measured ourselves using different objects and comparing!
We made our own passports so we could use our new airport role play!
We loved these! We did some great passport photos!
Making our own runways for the aeroplanes in our tuff spot.
It's tricky using masking tape but we did a great job!
Threading and building patterns today to work out our fingers!
Sequencing 'Going On A Plane'...
...it caused lots of excellent debate!
We made our own paper planes and decorated them.
Writing our packing lists to go on holiday.
We love our new airport role play! Especially the security scanning machine!
We've had so many visitors to the airport already.
Remembrance day - team work making poppies in our tuff tray.
Making our own poppies without templates...a great challenge!
Painting runways and talking about what we see from a bird's eye view!
We designed our own aeroplanes...they were very creative and colourful!
We played 'Odd One Out' for what we see in an aeroplane.
